event… Ranch Rodeo! On Saturday, January 9th, 2016 the voice of legendary ranch rodeo announcer Randy Lewis crackled through the Event Center as he welcomed 2,400 fans to the National Western Stock Show’s Inaugural Invitational Ranch Rodeo. Teams traveled from four states and, right up to the time they left for Denver, were still gathering remnants from the big blizzard that had recently moved across their part of the country. Four of those teams had been Working Ranch Cowboys Association (WRCA) World Champions, with one team being the current 2015 World Champion (Lonesome Pine Ranch- Maple KS). “Truly the best of the best were saddled up here in Denver,” said Randy Lewis who has announced the WRCA World Championships for the last seven of their twenty years. “I was excited to be part of honoring a rich Colorado Western heritage with this event. These cowboys were the classiest and humblest bunch of guys, proud of what they do and proud to keep ranching traditions alive.” Agate, Colorado cowboy Jessy Jolly from the Jolly & Lord Ranch Team not only competed with his team at this event but was one of the fi rst “experts” that Horse Show Manager Kendra McConnell and Sr. Director of Rodeo and Horse Shows, Leon Vick tapped to assist them in producing the Inaugural Ranch Rodeo. With time constraints and limitations dumped into the fi guring, the decision was made by the production crew to modify the entire event down from the usual ten ranch rodeo teams to eight featuring four events, weekend rodeo Yoder Ranch & Brown Mill Ranch working their way to 3rd Place in the Wild Cow Milking event.
