ranch wheelsBY COLIN J. CLEARY Exciting round balers for the 2016 haying season As calving season is underway that only means one thingtime KRONE COMPRIMA 155 XC Krone is making a name in the haying industry in North America and I’m here to tell you fellow ranchers to defi nitely take a look at the Krone Comprima 155 XC. This Semivariable fi xed chamber round baler is the fi rst to operate on the fi xed chamber principle while still producing bales of diameters that range from 4ft to 4’ 11”. With densities decreasing towards the center, the bale can still maintain a small and soft core even in larger/heavier bales. This system is unique to the haying world because of Krone’s NovoGrip system, which is designed to combine high baling pressure with quiet running. The 155 XC baler also features the X-cut rotor cutter with up to 26 knives. Krone is also the fi rst to offer a pickup without a cam track! This special design of galvanized scrapers ensures continuous crop fl ow as the tines retract. The pickup operates at a higher speed for cleaner gathering resulting in higher productivity. For a monitor, Krone Comprima round balers offer customized control options. You can choose between Alpha, Beta and ISOBUS terminals with or without CCI terminal (which just serves as a master control unit for all ISOBUS machines of many manufactures). For more information reach out to your local Krone dealer or online at www.krone-northamerica.com. KUBOTA BV4160 Pull back the reins, we have us a baler here now! Kubota has rolled out their BV4160, which can make a 4 by 5 tightly packed bale. With a 79” pickup there isn’t a windrow this baler can’t handle! PremiumNet models come with a new PowerBind net wrap system. This system allowed for to start thinking about making hay. I know I know, it’s a little early but let’s admit it, we are all looking forward to warmer weather! Reached out to the good folks at Krone, Kubota, Vermeer, John Deere and Massey Ferguson and told them I probably have a few readers that are looking for a new 5 by 6 round baler and to fi ll me in on what they would recommend for the “Working Ranch” readers.
