INTERVIEW WITH MIKE DEERING
WR What’s the best lesson you’ve learned during your
time with MCA?
MD We aren’t in the cattle business, we’re in the people business.
Developing relationships and being servants to our members is the most
important thing we do. We are their voice and advocate, and we work
relentlessly to carry their needs forward to help keep them in business.
We need to understand their story, so we can take that story forward to
the highest level of government possible, to protect them and their future.
WR What is one of MCA’s greatest accomplishments?
MD Our volunteer leaders have accomplished so many things, it’s hard to
choose just one thing. But I think the one thing I would say is the unity we
have in our organization. It’s refl ected strongly in the success we’ve had at
Missouri Cattlemen’s Association Executive Vice President Mike Deering (L) and MCA leadership
