Madeline Jackson shares her beef story with Oregon Ag Fest participants. president, they are currently working on providing excellent educational opportunities through social media along with their mid-year and annual meetings. “Through social media we are working on trying to spread beef facts and industry transparency. We provide legislative updates from state and national levels regularly to our members, and encourage them to contact their legislators. At our mid-year meeting, we are providing Masters of Beef Advocacy training so our members can learn to become better advocates,” shares Bingham. OCW has been busy with their Beef Booth at Ag-Fest, an annual event in April where they educate over 22,000 people at the two-day event in Salem. The booth provides opportunities to explore and participate in hands-on activities learning about the nutritional aspects of beef, beef safety, beef by-products and the ranching lifestyle. They will also be holding their second annual 5/10K run/walk called “Hoofi n’ It to Beef Fit” on August 5th of this year. A portion of the proceeds go to purchase the Baker County Shrine Steer, which is auctioned to benefi t the Shriners Hospital for Children. Bingham adds, “We appreciate any and all volunteers for these events as well as attendees. We love pictures with captions on them to post on social media sites.
