Rodeo for a Century
Cowboy-competition has been thriving
in McDermitt, Nevada for over 100 years
n the beginning, rodeos were far more than just a competition.
Secluded ranchers with their families and hired hands looked
forward to the rare opportunity to gather together and celebrate.
Of course, the prospect of winning some money and the
opportunity to show off were also appealing.
For the residents of McDermitt,
Nevada, rodeo has represented exactly
that for the last 106 years. Although the
rodeo has changed names and structure
over the years; the underlying atmosphere
of safely gathering together for
a good time remains alive and well.
When the rodeo originally began
cowboys would bring their unbroke
