MONDAY, OCTOBER 21
Up bright and early headed back to
Pawnee Springs, North Unit to start
moving cattle closer to the main place.
The high for the day was 33° and the
wind was howling with gusts up to
60 mph. I was thankful we had south
wind; the cows weren’t hesitant to
walk with the wind toward the home
place. We moved two sets of cattle
that totaled about 400 and were home
by 3:00 p.m.
TUESDAY, OCTOBER 22
After a long night of staying up with
Gus who has a cold, we headed back
to Pawnee to move the last bunch
to the North Unit. We hauled to the
north end of a several section pasture
and split up to gather. We drove about
200 head home that morning and
were done by lunch which we ate in
Brady at the Hitchin Post.
