BY MORGYN AND FALYN HEMPEL, AGE 11, TEXAS Wednesday, December 23, 2015 We took a school break for Christmas. Every morning we go out to check our animals. Morgyn fed our baby chicks that we incubated from our friend Sarah’s eggs. They are Bantam chicks. I fed my Mini Rex rabbit; his name is Scooter. After lunch Morgyn rode our horse, Pinto, to pen some of our heifers. Daddy worked the gates. Caden Joe practiced roping a calf while we worked the heifers. Since we have our own ultrasound machine, I ultrasounded some heifers to see if they were bred. My mommy taught me how so now I can do it myself. Mommy is always there watching the screen with me. Then I write down who is bred and how far bred she is. Today, all the heifers were bred. Yay, 100% today! I love doing ranch work with the family, it is fun! This evening I had a piano recital. It was my fi rst one. Morgyn and I take piano lessons with two other homeschoolers every week. — By Falyn Morgyn on Pinto penning some Hereford heifers to ultrasound at the ranch headquarters.
